I pescaresi Zippo approdano al loro terzo album per la romana Subsound. Notazioni biografiche a parte, che potete reperire in molte altre recensioni sulla rete, bisogna sottolineare l'eclettismo coerente dell'ensemble abruzzese. Non più simil stoner ma suoni più aperti, chitarre ancora più 'intrecciate', e voce dominante di Davide  Straccione, elementi che presi tutti insieme contribuiscono non poco ad un sound caratterizzante. Non è poco.  Difficile addomesticare il loro sound se non si conoscono, anche se qualcosa di math rock viene in mente con vaghi echi di Tool, Mastodon e Isis, ed anche qualcosa dei Void Generator (Message From the  Galactic Federation) ma molto meno psych. Non a caso la produzione viene affidata, almeno in parte a James  Plotkin. La voce di Straccione, grossa e gutturale, ti costringe a seguire la linea del cantato. La sezione ritmica è sempre in movimento costruendo di continuo groove freddi e che ricordano qualcosa degli anni '80. A tratti, la ritmica delle chitarre rileva i limiti tecnici degli esecutori, il cui risultato, giova ripeterlo, non è mai  banale. Senza accorgersene giungiamo a metà dell'album dove si comincia sentire un certo bisogno 'd'altro'.  Soccorre allora 'We, people's Hearth' con incipit più rilassato e melodie più orecchiabili. Pezzo sicuramente  interessante. Bella anche la successiva 'Simum', vagamente psichedelica. Chiude più o meno con identico  mood 'The Treasure'. Un disco migliorabile ma ben fatto, se vi piace il genere andate sul sicuro.

Zippo from Pescara calling their third album for the roman Subsound. You can find the biographical notations in many other reviews but we need to emphasize the consistenteclecticism of the ensemble  from Abruzzo. No more stoner-like but it sounds more open,more 'twisted' guitars, and ragged dominant voice of Davide, all of which taken togethercontribute greatly to a distinctive sound. It is  not little. Hard to tame their sound if you do not know them, even if something comes to mind as math  rock with vague echoes of Tool,Mastodon and Isis, and also something of the Void Generator (Message From The GalacticFederation) but much less psych. Not surprisingly, the production is entrusted, at least in part to James Plotkin. The Straccione's voice, thick and throaty, forcing you to  follow the line of singing. The rhythm section is always on the move constantly building groovereminiscent of something cold and 80s. At times, the rhythm guitars note the technical limitations of  the performers, the result of which, it is worth repeating, is never trivial.Without realizing it we reach half of the album where you start to feel a certain need of'the other'. Then rescues 'We, People's  Hearth' with more relaxed starting and catchymelodies. Piece definitely interesting. Nice also the  subsequent 'Simum', vaguelypsychedelic. Closes more or less with the same mood 'The Treasure'. An improvable recordbut well done, if you like the genre you go on the safe side.
